Saturday August 31, 2024 exceptional evening in the “San Francesco” Cultural Center in Via Garibaldi 37A, for the Ventimiglia 2024 International Music Festival. Elisabeth Nielsen (piano, Denmark) and Christine Bernsted (violin, Denmark) performed in front to a large audience who did not spare great applause for the Danish duo. A growing repertoire that began with a piece by the contemporary Ukrainian composer Yevhen Stankovich entitled Ukrainian Poem. In homage to the Danish author Carl Nielsen, the pieces Romance, Violin Sonata n°2 op.35, Allegro con tiepidezza, tanto Adagio and Allegro pleasant were performed. By Edvard Grieg, Sonata n°3 op. 45 and Allegretto expressivo to the Romanza. The concert then became fresher with the pieces Liebesleid and Schön Rosmarin by the Viennese composer Fritz Kreisler. A magnificent interpretation of the famous Tango Jalousie by the Danish composer Jacob Gade closed the official program of the evening. We knew Elisabeth Nielsen's skill very well, now the audience at the International music festival in Ventimiglia was also able to savor that of Christine Bernsted. Upon request for an encore, the Scandinavian duo gave a magnificent interpretation of the song "Après un rêve" by Fauré. The Ventimiglia international music festival will end on the evening of 1 September 2024 starting at 8.30 pm with a concert by maestro Radu Ratoi (accordion, Moldova). A strong turnout of the public is also expected for this last day of the Festival.
